Probus Club of Manly - Social Club for Retirees in Manly and Northern Beaches
Looking for a Probus Club in Sydney’s Northern Beaches?
Our club was formed at its initial meeting, hosted by Probus South Pacific, on 2 June 2025 when the Constitution was approved, most of those attending signed up to join the club as Foundation members and the first committee was elected. At a second meeting on 7 July additional attendees joined to form a group of 31 Foundation members. Since then the committee has been actively setting up activities, bank accounts, guest speakers and membership communication systems and our numbers are growing at each meeting. The club's standing orders were approved at our August 2025 meeting. At the first AGM in March 2026, most of the committee agreed to continue the work they had been doing to get the club running well with a goal of reaching its desired total membership of 80.
Probus is an association of Active Seniors who meet on a regular basis and engage in various social activities together. "Probus" is derived from the words Professional and Business and was started as a project of Rotary in Surrey, England in 1965 designed for retired Rotarians. By 1976 the idea had spread to Australia. You can read more about what membership of a Probus organisation offers on the Probus South Pacific (PSPL) website at www.probussouthpacific.org. As a member of Probus, members benefit from various travel opportunities. More details available here.
Where and when we meet
Our monthly meetings are held in the Manly Youth and Community Centre at 9 Kangaroo Street, Manly, NSW 2095 commencing promptly at 10 am on the first Monday of each month. The meeting usually consists of club business followed by morning tea and coffee and then a guest speaker. Meetings will generally finish by 12pm and members are encouraged to then go to the Manly Club for a group lunch. Visitors are always welcome.
GETTING TO OUR MEETINGS
Buses – The Transport NSW buses do not go up Raglan Street and therefore you will need to walk from Manly.
If you are coming from Balgowlah or Fairlight the Hop Skip & Jump bus could be a good option, especially as the bus goes down Raglan Street. For the route and timetable click here.
